A native of Greenwich, Connecticut, Giulia Sanford is a multi-talented musician, performer and educator. Giulia earned her Masters Degree in Vocal Performance from The Boston Conservatory and Bachelor's Degree in Vocal and Violin Performance from Western Connecticut State University. As a vocalist she has performed with the Connecticut Lyric Opera, Opera Company of Brooklyn and The Martina Arroyo Foundation. Most recently, Giulia sang in the United States premiere of The Great War Symphony at Carnegie Hall, under the baton of Patrick Hawes.
Some of Giulia's operatic roles include Der Trommler in Der Kaiser von Atlantis, Romeo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Arsamene in Handel's Serse, Tessa in The Gondoliers, Cherubino in Figaro, Charlotte in Werther, Siébel in Faust, Dorabella in Cosí fan tutte, and the Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors. Giulia has participated in masterclasses with Arlene Shrut and Ann Boltz. Additionally, Giulia was a first place recipient in the National Association of Teachers of Singing Vocal Competition. Giulia performs for her local community as Lead Cantor for Sacred Heart Parish in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Giulia has been a violinist for over twenty years. She is currently an Orchestra Director in the Greenwich, CT Public Schools. Giulia teaches string instruments to 120 students and directs 4 orchestras. She has performed with regional orchestras and continues to perform in her local community. Giulia teaches private violin, voice, piano and music theory lessons in the New York Metro area. She continues to study voice under David Bender of Career Bridges NYC and coaches with Mina Kim of SUNY Purchase College. Giulia resides in Connecticut, close to her family, with her husband and 1.5 year old son!
